Argyll Workboats Limited

Oil & Gas Sector - Client Reps.

Dating back as far as the original Cormorant Rig that was contructed at Ardyne Point in Scotland we have always retained our links with in the Oil & Gas Sector and have been fortunate to have been able to develop with the Industry's high safety ethics and standards.

More recently, using our military experience and skills developed with "Thales Underwater Systems" and others, we have worked with Cairn Energy in their "Capricorn" exploration fields in North West Greenland where we introduced the first Greenlandic Flagged Vessel to the exacting Marine Oil & Gas Standards and co ordinated the Danish University Research acoustic monitoring, for both Cairn Energy and the Greenlandic Government, of all sub sea exploration , marine and mammal activity.

Working in the harsh Arctic conditions and time limited to extremely tight windows of opportunities with the unusual hazards of Icebergs , threatening polar bears and extreme wind chill and cold, specialised training, awareness and preparation against hazards and risk was a major factor in the over all success of the mission.

Resulting from this is our appreciation of the importance of Marine Mammal protection and to that end we are trained to act as official JNCC MMO's
